FOR ROCKINGHAM COUNTY AND HARRISONBURG CITY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS (CLASS OF 2026)

Title: LESSONS that shape your financial future

OVERVIEW: At Good Wealth Management, we believe that the decisions you make early in life, especially around finance, can shape your future in meaningful ways. That’s why we’re proud to announce our 3rd Annual Scholarship Competition, designed to support local high school seniors as they take their next step after graduation.

This scholarship is open to any students graduating high school in 2026. Our goal is simple: encourage thoughtful reflection on real-life financial decisions while investing directly in our local community.

ESSAY PROMPT: Describe a financial lesson you’ve learned so far and how it has shaped the way you think about your future.”

Essays may reference personal experiences, work, family, budgeting, saving, planning, or other real-life situations that influenced how you think about money and decision-making.

ELIGIBILITY: This competition is open to all high school seniors (Class of 2026) in Rockingham County or the City of Harrisonburg. Essays must be submitted by March 31, 2026, to be considered for the scholarship.

PRIZE: Five (5) winning essays will each be awarded a $1,000 scholarship. Top essays may also be featured on our social media platforms, providing recognition to outstanding student submissions.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
1. Essays must be original, unpublished works written in English.

2. Essays must be a minimum of 600 words.

3. Submit your essay via email to info@goodwm.com by March 31, 2026.

4. Submissions must be typed and double-spaced.

5. Include a cover page with your name, contact information, school name, graduation year, and essay title.

JUDGING CRITERIA: Current and former high school teachers will evaluate submissions. Essays will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
1. Clarity and coherence of argument
2. Depth of insight and analysis
3. Creativity and originality
4. Grammar, spelling, and adherence to guidelines
5. Plagiarism or use of AI-generated content will result in disqualification

DEADLINE: All submissions must be received by March 31, 2026. Late entries will not be accepted.

WINNERS: Five (5) scholarship recipients will be announced by April 15, 2026.
