Title: Investing in Tomorrow: The Importance of Financial Literacy

OVERVIEW: Calling all high school seniors (Class of 2024) with a passion for financial education! Our scholarship competition invites you to delve into the world of finance and explore the crucial role of financial literacy in high school education. As you embark in the next chapter of your life, we invite you to apply for a $1,000 scholarship where you’ll have the opportunity to showcase your insights, critical thinking skills, and creativity through a 400-word essay that answers the question: Why is Financial Literacy in High School Important?

ESSAY PROMPT: In a rapidly changing economic landscape, financial literacy has become indispensable. Yet, many high schools overlook its significance in their curriculum. In 400 or more words, explain why financial literacy is crucial for high school students. Consider how it empowers individuals, promotes economic stability, and cultivates responsible decision-making. Share personal anecdotes, statistical data, and insightful perspectives to articulate the profound impact of financial literacy on students’ futures.

ELIGIBILITY: This competition is open to all high school seniors currently enrolled in a local public or private school in Rockingham County and Harrisonburg City. Participants must submit their essays by May 17, 2024, May 24, 2024, to be considered for the scholarship.

PRIZE: Six (6) winning essays will be awarded a scholarship of $1,000 each. Additionally, the top essays will be featured on our website and social media platforms, providing recognition and exposure to talented young writers.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
1. Essays must be original, unpublished works written in English.
2. The word count should be at the minimum 400 words.
3. Submissions must be typed, double-spaced, and formatted according to the provided guidelines.
4. Include a cover page with your name, contact information, school name, grade level, and the title of your essay.
5. Submit your essay via email to info@goodwm.com by May 17, 2024, May 24, 2024.

JUDGING CRITERIA: Current and former high school teachers will evaluate submissions. Essays will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
1. Clarity and coherence of argument
2. Depth of insight and analysis
3. Creativity and originality
4. Grammar, spelling, and adherence to guidelines
5. Plagiarism and/or use of AI software will not be tolerated

DEADLINE: All submissions must be received by May 17, 2024, May 24, 2024 to be considered for the scholarship. Late entries will not be accepted.

WINNERS: Six winners ($1,000.- each) will be announced on May 24, 2024, May 31, 2024.
